How to request deletion

1. Send an email to privacy@choregami.app from the email address on the account you want to delete.
2. In the subject line, write: "Account deletion request".
3. Include the name of your family on ChoreGami (helps us locate the right account quickly).

We confirm receipt within 2 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days.

What gets deleted

The following data is permanently removed:

• Your parent account: name, email, phone number, password hash
• All child profiles linked to your family
• All chore templates, assignments, and completion history
• Point balances, transactions, payouts, and gift code records tied to your account
• All photo-proof images uploaded by family members
• Family events, prep tasks, and activity timeline
• Theme preferences, avatars, and other per-profile settings
• OAuth provider links (Google, Meta) if connected

What may be retained, and why

A small set of records is retained after account deletion only where legally required:

• Payment + tax records: if you've ever purchased a paid plan or gift code, Stripe-side transaction records are retained for up to 7 years to meet US tax and accounting law (IRS retention requirements).
• Anonymized aggregate analytics: usage counts stripped of all identifiers may persist in our service-quality metrics. These can no longer be linked back to your account after deletion.
• Backups: encrypted server backups may temporarily contain deleted data until the next backup rotation, typically within 30 days of the deletion request.

We never retain identifiable user data for marketing, re-targeting, or training purposes after deletion.

Partial deletion (without deleting the whole account)

If you want to remove specific items but keep the account, you can do so directly in the app without contacting us:

• Delete a child profile from the family
• Delete individual chores or chore templates
• Delete rewards, goals, and gift codes
• Reject and delete submitted photo-proof images from the parent approval queue
• Remove individual transactions via the parent dashboard

For partial deletions you cannot perform in the app — for example, removing specific historical activity timeline entries — email us at the same address above and we will handle them as part of a partial-deletion request.

Questions or appeals

If you believe your deletion request has not been honored within the 30-day window, reply to your original email and we will escalate. You also retain the right to contact your local data protection authority.
